PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF KAPHA-PITTA-DOSHA
Kapha-Pitta is a mixed dosha type. Mixed constitutional types have characteristics of both constituent dosha types. Ayurveda keeps mixed dosha types healthy by recommending different food and routines at different times of the year.
It is important for Kapha-Pitta types need to follow the Kapha Plan from Fall (Autumn) to the end of Winter and the Pitta Plan from Spring to end of Summer.
When balanced – Kapha-Pitta types have a strong digestion that enables them to eat and digest almost anything they want. If they stay physically active they easily keep their weight stable.
When unbalanced – Kapha-Pitta types will gain weight rather quickly. They are also prone to oedema (swelling) on various parts of the body.
EMOTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF KAPHA-PITTA
Pitta-Vata types are very successful people as they have that rare blend of creativity and motivation.
When balanced – They are healthy, active and lively individuals are are the soul of social gatherings.
When imbalanced, They become angry, fearful and melancholic. They shy away from social situations out of fear.

How to Balance Kapha Pitta Dosha
It is important for Kapha-Pitta types need to follow the Kapha Plan from Fall (Autumn) to the end of Winter and the Pitta Plan from Spring to end of Summer.
- Try to rise early in the morning, before sunrise.
2. Drink 100ml of hot water with a tablespoon of lemon juice on rising.
3. Do I-Yoga Sun Salutation, ideally 12 rounds of the sequence every morning.
4. Meditate for 5 to 10 minutes after yoga.
5. Take a warm shower or bath
6. Have Peppermint Tea daily.
7. Eat Lunch as close to midday as possible. Need to have smaller portions and lighter food at lunch or it can result in tiredness in the afternoon.
8. Eat a Dinner between before 7pm. Dinner should be your largest meal.
9. Do I-Yoga Moon Salutation every evening. Complexing 6 rounds of the sequence at your own pace
10. Try to get to bed by 10 pm. It is important that you maintain a regular routine.
11. You need to have least three regular meals regular a day. Ensure that you eat high protein food for dinner.

Eat Breakfast containing fresh fruit
Eat a medium portioned Lunch; if tired or sleepy after eating a meal – then the portion was too large.
Have Dinner before 7pm.
Take a herbal tea with snacks in the late afternoon. Ideally you want to drink teas that are anti-inflammatory and antioxidant rich like the Afternoon Antioxidant Tea.
Avoid drinks with caffeine as this has an effect on cortisol and other metabolic hormones. Remember that green tea is herbal but has caffeine.

These guidelines can be used for Kapha Pitta mind-body constitutions. It helps to maintain Dosha balance and increase energy levels and physical wellbeing.
BEST VEGETABLES – eat more raw food
Alfalfa sprouts, asparagus, bean sprouts, bell peppers, broccoli, bitter melon, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, green beans, kale, lettuce greens, mushrooms, peas, pumpkins, turnips.
VEGETABLES TO REDUCE
Avocado, artichokes, chillies, radish, tomatoes, aubergine
BEST FRUIT
Apples, blueberries, cranberries, lemon, lime, pomegranate
FRUITS TO REDUCE
Dates, figs, grapes, mango, papaya, pineapple (sour), strawberrie
BEST GRAINS
Barley, basmati rice, corn & corn flour, rye.
GRAINS TO REDUCE
Buckwheat, oats, wheat, white rice.
DAIRY
Milk should be taken warm with a small amount of spice such as ginger, cardamom, or fennel.
Use plant based milks. Avoid butter, cheese, ghee, yogurt.
BEST MEAT
None
MEAT TO AVOID
Beef, duck, egg yolk, lamb, pork, seafood, venison.
BEST BEANS
Aduki beans, black gram, lava beans, kidney beans, lima beans, mung beans, peas, soy beans, tof
BEANS TO REDUCE
Beans tend to be dry, cool and somewhat heavy. Moderate use is generally all right for pitta–kapha types. They should be taken with spices to assist digestion. Soaking beans before cooking makes them easier to digest. Of all the beans, tofu and mung are the very best. Avoid Chickpeas,
BEST OILS
Oils, being heavy and moist, should generally be used in small amounts in pitta /kapha types. The best oils are light, dry and cool like sunflower & soy oil. Avoid all other oils.
SWEETENERS
Overuse of any sweetener will eventually cause inflammation of the pancreas in Kapha Pita. Use stevia in moderation but avoid all other sweetness.
NUTS AND SEEDS
Nuts are heavy, oily & heat producing therefore will aggravate pitta–kapha individuals. Therefore Seeds are best, as they are lighter and drier.
HERBS & SPICES
Spices aid the digestion and absorption of nutrients.
As Kapha Pitta individuals feel warm & are prone to inflammation, mild to moderate spicing advised.
SPICE TO AVOID
Black pepper, chilli, raw garlic, horseradish, hot mustards, nutmeg, salt.
