PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF KAPHA-VATA
Dual or mixed Ayurvedic types will tend to have characteristics of both its constituent dosha types. Ayurveda therapy requires mixed dosha was to change the kinds of foods they eat according to the seasons. Vata-Kapha is composed of two cool physiological constituents. This gives a coolness to your demeanour. This may mean that your skin is most often cool to touch.
When balanced – Kapha-Vata types have skin that feels cool to touch. Neither heat nor cold bothers them and they have a strong constitution if they maintain a good diet.
When unbalanced – Kapha-Vata types become very temperature sensitive. They have cold hands and feet and may be more sensitive to cold temperatures than others.
EMOTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF KAPHA-VATA
Kapha-Vata is all about balancing emotional outbursts and rational logic.
When balanced – Kapha-Vata dosha type gives you a cool-headed and calm demeanour. You go through life unaffected by the challenges in your path.
When imbalanced, Kapha-Vata get lost in their own heads. This diminishes one’s passion and inspiration and can lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness.
How to Balance Kapha Vata Dosha
1.To keep this physiological type in balance and healthy, you should follow the Vata Diet Plan in spring and summer and the Kapha Diet Plan from late fall (autumn) and throughout the winter along with the rules below that pertain specifically to this combines dosha type.
2. Awake early ideally before sunrise and try to get to bed before 10pm.
3.On rising drink 500ml of warm/hot water
4.Have Ginger and Cinnamon Chai every morning.
5. Do I-Yoga Sun Salutation or mild exercise for 20 to 30 minutes every morning.
6. Meditate for 10 minutes. Mediation Techniques will be provided as plan progresses.
7. Breakfast should include acidic fruit (citrus fruit or berries) and warm drinks. Ginger and Cinnamon Tea or Redbush Masala Chai.
8. Lunch should be your largest meal. You can eat anything you want for lunch.
9. Dinner should be a smaller portion than lunch and food should be lighter. Ideally you should have soups and stews for dinner.
10. If you crave sweets late in the evening then your dinner was not nourishing enough for you. You need to include osme sweet vegetable like sweet potato or squash for dinner.
11. Do I-Yoga Moon Salutation every evening.

How to Keep Kapha Vata Skin Looking Beautiful throughout the Ages

Kapha Vata Diet Plan
– Eat warm, nourishing foods with moderately heavy texture like sweet potato, oat porridge and rice.
-Kapha Vata body types need their food cooked to aide digestion. Avoid cold foods such as salads, iced drinks, raw vegetables.
-Add cold pressed nut & vegetable oils to food.
-You can have salty, sour, and sweet food in small amounts daily.
-Eat freshly baked breads with sourdough yeast. Avoid commercial yeast products.
-Take a hot or herbal tea with snacks in the late afternoon.
-Avoid drinks with too much caffeine – green tea has caffeine.
Kapha Vata Food Plan
These guidelines can be used for Kapha Vata mind-body constitutions, to maintain dosha balance and increase energy levels and physical wellbeing.
BEST VEGETABLES (cooked)
Asparagus, beets, carrots, cucumber, garlic, green beans, onions, sweet potatoes, radishes, and turnips.
VEGETABLES TO REDUCE
Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, eggplant, leafy green vegetables, mushrooms, peas, peppers, potatoes, sprouts, tomatoes, zucchini
Avoid raw vegetables, in general.
BEST FRUITS (well-ripened)
Bananas, apricots, avocados, berries, cherries, coconut, fresh figs, grapefruit, lemons, grapes, mangoes, sweet melons, sour oranges, papaya, pineapple, peaches, plums, stewed fruits.
FRUITS TO REDUCE
Cranberries, pears, pomegranates.
Avoid dried fruits, in general and all unripe fruit.
Oats (as cooked oatmeal porridge only, no granola), cooked rice.
GRAINS TO REDUCE
Wheat, barley, buckwheat, corn, dry oats, millet.
Reduce or avoid dairy. Use alternative milk sources. Nut Milks are best for you.
Chicken, seafood, turkey, in small quantity.
MEAT TO REDUCE
Chickpeas, mung beans, Pink lentils, Tofu (small amounts).
BEANS TO REDUCE
Kidney beans & black beans as these are heavy to digest.
Sesame oil and olive oil are especially good.
All natural sweeteners may be used in moderation.
NUTS AND SEEDS
All nuts may be eaten in small amounts if not allergic. Almonds are best.
HERBS & SPICES
Avoid using spices in large quantities. Reduce all bitter and astringent herbs such as coriander seed, fenugreek, parsley & thyme. Saffron and turmeric should be used in moderation. Have fresh ginger tea daily – morning or evening.
